Hyaluronic acid comes in different molecular sizes, and each size behaves differently on your skin. Big molecules sit on the surface and hold water there, smaller ones can slip slightly deeper into the outer layers. A serum with one weight only covers one part of that job, which is why we built our new Capsule Cream with several weights working together.
You have probably seen "hyaluronic acid" on a dozen labels and assumed it is one ingredient doing one thing. It is actually a family of molecules, sorted by size, and size changes what they can do for your skin. Once you understand that, a lot of skincare marketing starts making more sense, and some of it starts making less.
Molecular weight just describes how big the hyaluronic acid molecule is. Think of it like the difference between a beach ball and a handful of marbles. Both can hold water, but they sit and move very differently once they land on skin.
A high molecular weight hyaluronic acid is the beach ball. It is too large to pass through the outer layer of skin, so it stays on the surface, where it forms a thin film and holds water against the skin. That is what gives you the immediate plumped, smoother feel.
A lower molecular weight version is smaller and can work its way slightly into the upper layers of the stratum corneum, the outermost part of your skin. It holds moisture there instead of just on top. Neither one is "better." They do different jobs in different places.
Most hyaluronic acid serums use one weight, sometimes two. That is not a flaw, it is just a narrower tool. A single-weight serum, like our own Hyaluronic Acid 1% + Niacinamide Serum, does a good job at the level it is designed for. But it cannot cover the surface and the slightly deeper layers at the same time, because one molecule size cannot be in two places at once.
Skin is not one uniform layer. It has structure, and hydration needs to be addressed at more than one level to actually change how skin feels and looks over time, not just in the ten minutes after you apply something.
Our new Hyaluronic Acid Capsule Cream uses multi-weight hyaluronic acid, meaning several molecular sizes in one formula. The larger molecules hold water on the surface. The smaller ones move slightly deeper and hold it there. Together they address hydration at more than one level instead of just one.
This is not a new discovery or a secret formula. Multi-weight hyaluronic acid is well understood, well documented cosmetic chemistry, used across the industry for years. We are not claiming to have invented anything. We are saying we built the formula the way the chemistry actually supports, instead of leaning on one weight because it is cheaper or simpler to source.
Hyaluronic acid is a genuinely stable ingredient compared to a lot of actives, but it still needs to be protected from air and light over the life of a jar. Every time a jar is opened, air gets in. Over weeks and months, that exposure can chip away at potency, especially in a formula sitting in a wide-mouth container that gets opened daily.
The capsules in this cream are a delivery mechanism, not a gimmick. The hyaluronic acid sits inside them, sealed away from air and light, and only bursts open and becomes active when it meets your skin. That means the hyaluronic acid you apply on day sixty is doing the same work as the hyaluronic acid you applied on day one, instead of a slowly fading version of it.
Hyaluronic acid needs help to actually feel good on skin and stay put, which is where the rest of the formula comes in.
None of these ingredients are exotic. They are chosen because they each do a specific, well-understood job, and together they support what the hyaluronic acid is trying to do rather than competing with it.
Use the Capsule Cream daily on clean, dry skin.
It particularly suits skin that came out of winter feeling stripped, tight, or generally unimpressed with itself. It is also a good option if you are moving away from a heavy, occlusive cream as the weather warms and you want something that hydrates properly without sitting on your skin like a raincoat.
If you already use a hyaluronic acid serum and love it, you do not need to abandon it. Pairing a single-weight serum with a multi-weight cream on top is a perfectly reasonable way to layer, since they are addressing hydration slightly differently. Skincare does not have to be complicated to work. It just has to be built the way skin actually functions.
